Tóm tắt

Curcuma zedoaroides Chaveer. & Tanee, belonging to the gennus Curcuma (Zingiberaceae), is a newly discovered species in Vietnam. In the present study, the chemical constituents and the in vitro cytotoxic activity of the n-hexane extract from the C. zedoaroides aerial parts were reported for the first time. The n-hexane extract showed the most potent cytotoxic effect among all tested extracts on seven human cancer cell lines (A549, MCF-7, HepG2, HT-29, HL-60, K562, and MDA-MB-231), with IC50 values ranging from 49.76 - 86.30 µg/mL using sulforhodamine B and MTT methods. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis revealed that a total of 10 components were identified from the n-hexane extract. Among these, curdione (a major compound, accounting for 41.12% of total content) was isolated from C. zedoaroides for the first time. Its structure was determined by 1D-, 2D-NMR, and MS spectroscopic techniques and compared with the previous publication. This study provides significant data on the chemical constituents and cytotoxic effects of the n-hexane extract of C. zedoaroides aerial parts. These findings suggest that C. zedoaroides extract can be exploited for its potential cytotoxic effect.
